Obituary
Edmond Paul “Eddie” Standaert, 91, of Kewanee, Il. died at 6:45 A.M. Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at his home. Eddie was born January 19, 1921 in Kewanee the son of Alfred P and Alice (Pynckel) Standaert. He was reared and educated in Kewanee and served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1946.
Eddie married Mary Lou McCall on December 27, 1947 in Colorado Springs, Co. She survives along with two sisters Elizabeth Fisher of Kewanee and Clara White of Odem, Texas and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Bruce Standaert and one sister Irma Turngren.
Eddie was employed for 38 years as a glove cutter at Boss Manufacturing Co. and for 7 years as a laborer at Kewanee Iron and Metal Co., retiring in 1981. He enjoyed raising finches and parakeets; selling them both privately and at the Kewanee Sale Barn. Eddie also grew and sold evergreens and trimmed evergreens for people.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M. Friday, May 18, 2012 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Pastor Dan Craig will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Kewanee where military honors will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Visitation will be from noon until the time of services on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials should be directed to the First Baptist Church of Kewanee.
