Kenneth A. Fristad, 70, of Kewanee, Il. died at 10:25 A.M. on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton, Il.
Ken was born November 19, 1941 in Peoria, Il. the son Arthur A. and Eileen (Lamberty) Fristad. He graduated from Kewanee High School in 1959. Ken attended Elmhurst College, The Automation Institute of Chicago and graduated from Western Illinois University in Macomb.
Ken married Crystal Harding on August 31, 1963 in Kewanee. She survives along with one son Kirk (Susan) Fristad of Kewanee, Kendra (Mark) Michalik of Plainfield, Il. and Kandy (Scott) Hansen of Neponset, Il., eight grandchildren Julie, Nate, Mitch and Zach Fristad, John and Brooke Michalik, and Ryan and Riley Hansen. Ken was preceded in death by his parents.
He was employed at Boss Glove Co in Kewanee for 36 years but had also worked at Country Companies in Bloomington and Kewanee Machinery and Conveyor for a time. He began his work at Boss as a data processor and worked his way up through management, retiring as President of the firm on August 7, 1999. In his retirement, he continued his work as a professional golf instructor.
Ken was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Kewanee, the Kewanee Elks Lodge and the U.S. Golf Teachers Federation. He loved golf and his golf instruction; particularly with the youth of the Kewanee area. He loved to travel and spend the winters in Florida. Ken loved his family and enjoyed following his grandkids in their many activities.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday, May 14, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church in Kewanee. Rev. David Schweppe will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Kewanee, Il. Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Sunday, May 13, at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church or Baker Park for a golf memorial.
