Dolores Lazar, 77, of Kewanee, Il. died at 10:30 A.M. Monday, May 7, 2007 at Courtyard Estates in Bradford, Il. She was born November 13, 1929 in Kewanee, Il. the daughter of Santos and Mercedes (Lomeli) Rodriguez. She was reared and educated in Kewanee and graduated from Kewanee High School in 1947. She married Don Lazar November 12, 1966 in Kewanee. He survives along with one son Rudy M. (Judy) Vasquez of Lincoln, Ne., two daughters Kelly J. (Bill) Hicks of Kewanee, and Marcy L. (Dave) Johnson of Galva, Il. Seven grandchildren Joshua (Tara A.) Hicks, Lee (Tara E.) Hicks and Joseph Hicks all of Kewanee, Ashley Hicks of Peoria, Natalie Johnson and D.J. Johnson of Galva and Alison Vasquez of Lincoln, Ne., four great grandchildren Ryan Hicks and Jaxson Hicks of Kewanee, Landon Mason of Peoria, Il. and Addyson Hicks of Kewanee. Also surviving are two sisters Lupe (Jim) Meloen of Kewanee and Jenny Richardson of Peru, Il.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Tony Rodriguez and one sister Henrietta Diaz.
Dolores was employed at International Harvestor of East Moline retiring in 1979. She was a life long member of St. Mary’s Catholic church in Kewanee and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, reading, crossword puzzles and traveling.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 11, 2007 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Rev. James Pallardy of St. Mary’s Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Kewanee, Il. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Thursday, May 10th at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Kewanee Hospital Hospice or St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
